"The Jester" Character Model for Unreal Tournament
	By Sundeep "FunkaDelic" Dass.

-----------------------------------------------------

Date of Completion: April 14, 2002
First public release.

NOTE: THIS MODEL REQUIRES Psychic_313's Advanced Model Support (AMS)!
(I would provide urls to download AMS, but they seem to always to change, so
try finding a link at Polycount, Identity Crisis, Skin City, etc. Sorry for the inconvenience.)

The Stats:
640 polys (maybe a little too efficient...).
Over 500 frames of all new animation.
	Full team support.
	2 Faces.

INSTALLATION:
After you have installed AMS (see the note above):
Place the file in the Textures folder (JesterMeshSkins.utx) into the
Textures subdirectory of your UnrealTournament folder.
Place the files in the System folder (Jester, JesterMeshSkins, and Jester.u)
into the System subdirectory or your UnrealTournament folder.
Open up your UnrealTournament.ini file and under the [Engine.GameEngine]
section, add these lines to the ServerPackages list:

	ServerPackages=Jester
	ServerPackages=JesterMeshSkins

	...and that should do it.

So why the Jester? Well, why not? I originally designed and sculpted the Jester as
a marionette for a puppet making class I took. As my interest in developing a model
for UT grew, the Jester once again resurfaced. I just thought it would be fun to
have this mad Jester racking up the frags in UT; a different face amongst the sea
of commandos, robots, muscle-bound males, and the "chunky" female models. And so
the Jester was born. Enjoy. And experiment with those animations; there's lots to
see...

Known bugs: nothing major here, but I should mention these nonetheless.
The mesh is missing the bottom faces of the feet. It's only really noticeable when you examine the jester's corpse (and who spends the time to do that?). It doesn't affect game play, is doesn't cause any annoying flickering. It's just missing the bottom of the feet. I think this is due to some data loss swtiching between applications and file types during the UV layout phase. Bummer.
The head shot animation doesn't quite pull off the full decapitation. For those of you in the know on skeletal animation, I scaled down the head and rotated it into the body for the head shot, but it seems to only make it halfway (or something). I tried readjusting and reimporting this animation numerous times, but I kept getting the exact same results. I guess you could call it the "head implosion" animation...at least something happens.
If you discover any other odd occurrences, email me: funkadelicdass@earthlink.net

Interested in making skins for the Jester? Look for the Jester SDK (coming soon) for all your skinning purposes. Anyone may freely make skins for this model without my permission as long as am credited for creating the Jester model in appropriate documentation enclosed with the skin. You may NOT make skins for the Jester model for profit.

Anyone can distribute this player model in its UNMODIFIED form. You may NOT distribute
the Jester model for profit of any kind. If any websites/publishers choose to distribute the Jester model on any form of compilation CD or other media, please contact me before doing so. Basically, don't be an ass and do something with these files that will piss me off...

Thank you:
A big thanks to Psychic_313 for creating a utility that took the programming out of the project and lets artists be artists. And even when those artists post moronic questions on the forums, he's still kind enough to help.
Everyone at the EpicKinghts and Identity Crisis forums for their feedback and general support.
The teachers, friends, enemies, total strangers, and people I will never meet, who have helped me learn the tools of my trade and sponsored my growth as an artist.
Those snobs who sometimes come back home to W.C. and that banker from Lime Ridge. Otherwise known as Los Mutantes de Jupiter. You know who you are...

Next project?

Lets just say that I am very interested in getting my hands on UT2003...
